The department of preparation of the specialists of the rating trains the qualified workers for marine establishments of the republic.
The professions received at sea school, correspond to a minimum of the requirements of the International Convention STCW-78/95 sections A - II/4; A - III/4; A - V/1:

∙ sailor of the watch;

∙ motorman of the watch;

∙ electrician of the watch;

∙ engine pumping man-sailor of a bulk-oil vessel;

∙ the fitter-shiprepairer

∙ electrical-gas welder.

Term of training on all specialities is 7-10 months. The department has the following educational laboratories, studies and industrial workshops:

∙ ships internal combustion engines;
∙ ship auxiliary mechanisms;
∙ bases the electrical engineering and electrical equipments of ships;
∙ sailing practice;
∙ bases of navigation;
∙ the construction of a vessel;
∙ labour protection;
∙ linguaphone study;
∙ industrial practice workshop.

The following courses are conducted at the centre of training of seafarers:

∙ international safety management code;

∙ intact stability of ships;

∙ training in advanced fire-fighting;

∙ training in qualification for tankers;

∙ cargo handling dangerous and hazardous substances;

∙ training and qualification for ro-ro passenger ships;

∙ proficiency in survival craft and boats;

∙ medical fist aid and medical care;

∙ survival techniques, fire prevention and fire fighting, elementary first aid, personal safety and social responsibilities;

∙ improvement of professional skill for command structure of ships;

∙ preparation of radio-electron operators of the 2nd class of the GMDSS.


At the center function the following laboratories:

∙ fire fighting;

∙ labour protection and personnel survival;

∙ water fighting;

∙ medical aid;

A complex of the applied computer programs for testing and training are used in educational - SOLAS - 74/83.
The centre has educational process: “Global Marine Distress Safety System”, “International Rules for preventing collisions at sea”, “Marine Astronomy”, “Crew” (STCW7895), “Medicine”, “FURUNO".

In ÀSMÀ the training of the English language covers 7 terms and is carried out in 2 stages. The first stage covers 4 semesters and sets itself a task to study of the English language. The second stage covers 3 terms and sets itself a task the development of practical skills of mastering language, study of texts on speciality and terms on specialities.


At department there is a linguaphone study, additionally equipped cinema, audio, video-equipment.
Professor-teaching staff of department is 9 men, including:

∙ 1 professor, doctor of philological sciences;
∙ 1 assistant professor, candidate of philological sciences;
∙ 1 senior teacher;
∙ 6 assistants.


The applied computer programs are applied in educational process: "Ànglomar", "SHIPROUT", "Marine vocabulary".

There are following laboratories at department:

∙ Laboratory of chemistry;

∙ Laboratory of physics;

∙ The computer centre.


Informatics Laboratory
Professor-teaching staff of department is 11 men, including:

∙ 8 lecturers, candidates of physics-mathematical sciences;
∙ 3 assistants.

The specialized lecture-room "History of Azerbaijan" and museum of Academy functions at department

∙ the theory of machines and mechanisms;

∙ hydraulics and hydro-pneumatic installations.

The Department trains the bachelors on a speciality "Organization of transportations and management on water transport "

Economy of a sea transport;
Transportation of cargoes.

The department trains the bachelors on a speciality” Main-tenance of the ship radioequipment".


The department has laboratories:
∙ the international radio communication;
∙ the ship radioelectronic equipment;
∙ radionavigational instruments;
∙ simuator centre on IRCD.

The department trains the bachelors on a speciality "Marine electrical equipment and automatics".

∙ the general electrical engineering;
∙ theoretical bases of the electrical engineering;
∙ ship electronics and automation;
∙ ship electrical machines and electric drives;
∙ ship electropower systems and electrical apparatus.

The applied computer programs are applied in educational process: Wewba, Wewbd.

The department trains-bachelors on speciality "Shipbuilding and Shiprepairing".

The professor-teaching staff is 10 men, including:

∙ 1 professor, doctor of technical sciences;
∙ 4 senior lecturers, candidate of technical sciences;
∙ 3 senior teachers;
∙ 2 assistants.

The are laboratories with the modern equipment and specialized lecture-rooms:

∙ constriction of ships;
∙ technology of shiprepairing;
∙ science of materials and technology of construction materials;
∙ metrology and standardization;
∙ metalcutting tools and machine-tools.

The specialized lecture-rooms are eguipped with technological aids of training, models, placards, films corresponding to specialties.

The department has training in austral complex on base of shiprepairing plant after "Parizhskaya Kommuna".
